Blue
Sometimes you plan and plan and sometimes you just get lucky. I was shooting waves at the beach but only in particular lighting, only particular kinds of waves. I was shooting a lot of them, ultimately over twenty-five thousand images using my telephoto lens. At times I wasn't sure if the lens was functioning properly--it sometimes seemed as if the auto-focus was acting up--and so I would point the lens at the beach and test fire it, the beach being motionless and easy to focus upon rather than the waves, made up of nothing but water and perpetual motion.
When I processed the waves I wanted them as negative images and I wanted the color pumped up a bit and so I processed all of the files in large batches, then roamed through them looking for the interesting ones. Amongst the waves were images like these, bluest of blues, with strange hues of green edging them or running mysteriously through them. In enlarged images you can see the grains of sand, sharply rendered.
