These images were made in early September 2005 at Pinnacles National Monument. I thought to myself as I looked out upon that landscape, upon the rocks and the trees, upon the bushes, “What is the stupidest thing I could do with this camera right now?” Then I spun the camera violently as I triggered the shutter, whether purposely or not mimicking the whirling winds of Hurricane Katrina, which was then two or three days past landfall—the exact date I do not now recall.
